Faatimah Patterson is a valued member of our Board of Directors and also serves on the Board of Directors for the Little Miss Hannah Foundation. Her academic background includes a Master of Science in Communication Disorders from Howard University in Washington, D.C. and a bachelor’s degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology from South Carolina State University, a degree from University of South Carolina in Columbia for Interdisciplinary Sciences with minors in Psychology and Nursing. As a board-certified and licensed Speech-Language Pathologist, Ms. Patterson demonstrates a profound commitment to improving the lives of individuals with disabilities throughout their lifespan, from infancy to geriatrics.
Professionally, Ms. Patterson works with Valley Health System. Ms. Patterson has had contracts with Dignity Health, ProCare, Therapy Blocks, Community Home Health, and OneCare. Her prior work knowledge has extended to a wide range of areas in neurogenic disorders. She also contributes and volunteers with the ALS of Nevada Chapter. Ms. Patterson's goals is improving the quality of life through several key areas, including ensuring safe oral nutrition and hydration via therapy and the use of adapted equipment, developing effective cognitive-linguistic communication skills, identifying handicap-accessible community events, and assisting in the acquisition of durable medical equipment for dysphagia, as well as AAC equipment for nonverbal and nonvocal individuals.
As a dedicated advocate, Ms. Patterson actively supports the expansion of social and life skills, alongside comprehensive habilitation and rehabilitation services for individuals with complex medical needs. She possesses specialized expertise in advanced alternative and augmentative communication, neurocognitive training, the intricacies of traumatic brain injury, and interpersonal education. Through her significant contributions, Ms. Patterson is committed to addressing the specific needs of the medically fragile community in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Her training includes LSVT Loud for kids and adults, Vital Stim, S.O.S, PROMPT, PECS, Gestalt Language Processing, McNeill Dysphagia Therapy, Beckman Oral Motor, Articulation/Phonology, Trach/Vent, Passey Muir Valve, Augmentative & Alternative Communication, etc.
She is honored to work with those with disabilities and move Accessible Adaptability to new heights.
